The
Old Master has spoken
‘Both
of you are not compatible and your
marriage will be doomed. You are born
in the year of the Pig and he is born
in the Year of the Snake. It’s
a bad clash and you will suffer. Your
life will be miserable. You will have
no children because the snake will
eat up all your eggs…’
Kong and Ling are visibly upset when
their parents relate to them what
Old Master has said. The Old Master
is a trusted family adviser on astrological
matters. But their bond of love is
so strong that they decide to go ahead
with the marriage.
Recently, they celebrated their fourth
anniversary and Ling resigned from
a top executive management role in
a major insurance company to start
a family while Kong is a top producer
in a major real estate agency. They
are happy and vow to keep their marriage
going.
It is a customary perception that
a couple with six-year difference
in age would constitute a clash in
their marriage. However this is not
true. I have analysed many divorces
and separations, but many do not have
a six-year difference in their age.
There were suggestions to substitute
the lacking element or compensate
the clashed element with compatibility.
I do not buy the idea that you can
borrow an element from the destiny
of your spouse, friend, family member,
co-worker or partner. Otherwise, those
big families and corporations would
have the advantages of a harmonious
relationship as the elements of wealth
and political aspirations can be shared.
We only need a co-worker with an uncontrolled
artistic structure in the birth chart
to start an unintentional gossip and
we could feel the butterfly effect
in no time. Bazi is an interpretation
of the destiny and the revelation
of the personality of an individual
from the birth date.
The Xia calendar is the Chinese version
of the solar calendar with its origin
from the Xia Dynasty. It is based
on the rotation of Planet Earth around
the Sun while the lunar calendar based
its months on the rotation of the
moon as it orbits round the Earth.
The Xia calendar bases her division
of the twelve months on the position
of the Sun. The calendar commences
on the first day of the spring season.
For example, in 2004, it was calculated
that spring would commence on the
fourth of February at two minutes
to eight in the evening. In 2005,
the spring season would begin on fourth
of February again but the time is
at quarter to two in the early afternoon.
It is also a common belief that to
begin and end a solar year within
a lunar year is a sign of prosperity.
In 2005, the lunar year begins after
the first day of spring and ends before
the beginning of next spring; can
we conclude that it is a sign of bad
luck? We shall find out in due time.
Looking at past references, there
is no consistent pattern observed
in years 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2002.
The Xia calendar, also known as a
farmer calendar, uses twelve animals
to represent the twelve months that
the commoners of ancient time can
identify with. These are usually farmers
who use the calendar for farming precisions
like the sowing of seeds, the rainy
season, the harvesting season, the
summer and winter solstices and the
spring and autumn equinoxes. Thus,
a ‘snake’ person does
not necessary behave like a reptile
neither does a ‘pig’ person
behaves like a glutton. A person born
in the Dog year does not warrant his
loyalty neither does the ‘Ox’
person is in any way more hardworking
than others.
The Chinese astrologers used the Xia
calendar in their analyses of destinies.
Each animal sign is attached certain
energy or what the Chinese called
‘Qi’, that derives from
the five elements. Bazi study is the
philosophical analysis of the interaction
of the five elements and their representations.
In the above scenario, the snake is
assigned a fire element and the pig
is assigned a water element. Contrarily
to popular belief, they do not always
clash. A good heat is required to
convert water into steam, which is
a useful energy. A fire master can
be tamed with the use of water. An
in depth understanding would require
a clear picture of the quality, quantity,
speed and timing in the transformation
of the elements.
We interpret the clashes and combinations
that are found in the person’s
chart, usually when the related signs
are laid beside each other or measured
against the luck pillar’s and
the annual pillar’s sign. Of
which there are six clashes.
The snake and pig is but the least
harmful of all clashes. It is also
known as the annoying clash. This
deals with the interfering into other
peoples’ affairs or the persistent
offerings of help where is least needed.
Health wise, keep a check on bodily
heat condition, piles and pimples.
The dragon and the dog clash in the
chart reveal strains in the relationship
with family and friends. It also indicates
in change in property and office.
Take note of chest pain, stomach-related
problems, torso and muscle aches.
The rabbit and rooster clash is a
betrayal clash where trust among friends
and relatives become questionable.
It is also commonly known as the Sun
and Moon clash that indicate sexual
problems. Besides the reproductive
organs, the hip, lungs, liver and
fingers are areas of concern.
The monkey and tiger clash is also
known as the emotional clash due to
changes at home or at work. It usually
foretells a vehicle related accident.
The head, gall bladder, big nerves
and intestines are susceptible areas.
The ox and goat clash signifies obstacles
and hindrances. It is a poisonous
clash that indicates food poisoning,
cancerous cell development, abdomen-related
problems, and flesh and skin infections.
The rat and horse clash deals with
the internal struggle with mental
instability and physical uneasiness.
Look into eyes and heart problems,
with secondary concerns in areas of
kidney and blood.
A clash is not necessary bad. We need
to find out what, when, who, why and
how it clashes. Is it clashing away
the favourable or unfavourable element?
Is the useful god being affected?
A potential clash can be combined
away or being transformed into another
element. Gathering the information
from the chart helps us conclude the
effectiveness of the clash. We do
not need to be petrified by clashes
but learn to take a philosophical
view of failures and maintain a phlegmatic
stance in the face of turmoil. As
a practitioner, it is also our duty
to work out a solution to help avoid
or minimise the potentials of the
incidents.
Most important of all, we need to
differentiate among customs, religions,
myths, superstitions and facts. We
must be fully aware that what we say
does affect those people who consulted
and trusted us.
Let’s be responsible practitioners,
shall we?
