Questions & Answers

Q. I have eyed a 20-year-old resale unit in SW Singapore. Its main door faces NW (not good based on your topic of the month). There is a big balcony facing the SW though. I will be starting renovation soon. What should I do now that I know having the main door facing the NW is not good and need to do renovation? The master bedroom is in the SE corner with a door facing NE. I would sleep with my head pointing East. Is this good for me?

Subject: My door faces NW; When do I start renovations?

A. Hi Steven,
According to the information you have provided, the good locations in your house are in the North, South, East and Southeast sectors for a SE sitting house. You may use these good areas to locate your bedrooms and study rooms.

The NW sector is divided into three parts, each of 15 degrees. The sector affected lies between 292.6 to 307.5 degree NW1. Your main door may be facing NW but you also have to check if it is located in the NW sector of the house or is it located in the North [which is good] or West [which is bad] sector.

There are many components to a feng shui audit beside the directions. You may play it safe by having a professional Bazi consultant select a good day for you to start your renovations. Don't worry about internal arrangements as they constitute a small part in feng shui.

Q. I am looking for a bigger house. Currently, I am staying in Choa Chu Kang. I am looking at Pasir Panjang area for my new house. Is this area suitable for me and is 2006 a good year for me to buy a house?

Subject: Buying a new house

A. Hi Steven,
The South West [Pasir Panjang], West, North West [CCK] and North East [Seng Kang & Punggol] areas are ok for you. The Dog year looks like a good year for you base on your birth date. Treasure the opportunities.

Q. Why is LOCATION so important to a property’s Feng Shui?

A.
Feng Shui Advice ¨C Chinese Feng Shui For Offices & Homes You may often hear that décor or colour is THE thing to look out for if you want to enhance your Feng Shui. Not true. Keep in mind the most crucial factors will always be the direction & locations; the colour of your walls and curtains will not be influencing the Qi within your home.

If you take a closer look at the events that have come to pass in your life, the events you have undergone and the opportunities life has presented you, these next few items will
definitely have played a crucial role in all of them:

The water and mountain positions you have in the vicinity of your home.
The location and direction of your main door.
The location of your bedroom and
The location of your kitchen.

Facing a good direction may be helpful but being IN the right location AND facing a good direction spurs on the positive effects. Of course, this works just as negatively in the other direction – being in a disadvantaged location in the house may very well negate the good effects of facing your good direction.

This is why I constantly stress the importance of positioning your Main Door – the Qi mouth – in the right location in the addition to it facing the correct direction. You want it to receive the best possible quality of Qi in your home and facing a favorable direction further amplifies this effect.

Indeed, the influence of ‘location’, be it in a city, a suburb, a township, within your house, the rooms and the location of our desks is a powerful factor that shapes our lives. At times, we may not even realize just how powerful this effect can be as it influences us over an extended period of time.

If you have studied Feng Shui, you may have heard the term Luan Tou which is also known as Landform. Landforms refer to the mountain ranges and river in our environment. This can be detrimental to the Feng Shui goals that wehave set out ourselves.
Feng Shui Advice ¨C Chinese Feng Shui For Offices & Homes
A property should be ideally tapping into the beneficial resources of the surrounding land and then, at the same time, we tailor the internal Qi to fit our own lives.

Check for incoming roads, incoming imountains, mountain ranges, taller building, negative and environmental features. These lay the foundation for good or bad Feng Shui in your property. It may often be natural and easier to get carried away with interior Feng Shui. But if you just stopped and looked around, the problem may not be the colour of your door or where your door is, but what is OUTSIDE your door.
